Public Market Advisory Commission
I currently serve on the Public Market Advisory Commission (PMAC) for the City of Ann Arbor Farmers Market, which serves in an advisory capacity to provide the city with recommendations concerning the Public Market. The Commission advises the Market Manager regarding the promotion and advertising of the market, outreach education activities as they pertain to farmers markets and sustainable agriculture, and vendor recruitment.
Public Philosophy and Local Food
In August 2026, I will facilitate “What Makes Food Local?”, an interactive public philosophy exhibit at the Ann Arbor Local Food Festival. The exhibit grows out of my research on farmers markets and localness, and invites attendees to reflect on the many values that can be expressed by calling food “local.” More information is on my public philosophy page.
Doctoral Internship and Food-Access Writing
As part of my role as the Summer 2025 Doctoral Local Food Systems Intern at Growing Hope Urban Farm in Ypsilanti, Michigan I collected community narratives around the importance of SNAP and other food assistance programs in local food systems.
You can see these articles on my writing page.
Farmers Market Work
I have worked for various local farms, including Two Tracks Acres, Raindance Flower Farm, and Green Things Farm Collective, vending their produce at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market. I get deep satisfaction from helping people to connect with their local food systems, introducing them to new fruits and vegetables that they have never come across before, and teaching them how to use those vegetables in their own home cooking.
I also have an Instagram where I post local, seasonal foods.
